For healthcare businesses

Locum cover, booked directly

Who you can book

Professionals registered with a South African statutory council, filterable by qualification when you search:

South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) Pharmacists · Pharmacist's assistants · Pharmacy technicians
South African Nursing Council (SANC) Professional and general nurses · Midwives · Staff, enrolled and auxiliary nurses
Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) Doctors · Dentists and oral hygienists · Radiographers and clinical technologists · Physiotherapists and biokineticists · Occupational therapists · Dietitians · Optometrists · Psychologists · Emergency care practitioners · Speech, language and hearing therapists

How rates work

Each locum sets their own rate on their profile. You see that rate when you search, and it is the rate that applies when you book them. LocumLink does not set rates and does not add anything to them — no booking fee, no placement fee, no percentage.

With a traditional locum agency, the rate you are quoted includes the agency's margin. Removing that margin is the point of LocumLink.

How booking works

  1. Create your business profile

Add your details and every location where you need cover, on one account.

  2. Search

Filter by distance from a specific site, by the dates you need, and by qualification. Locums already booked for that window are excluded automatically.

  3. Send a booking request

The locum accepts or declines. You are notified either way.

  4. Check their registration, then confirm

Once the locum accepts, their qualification documents become available on the booking. Check their registration with the relevant council before they work, and use the platform messaging to agree arrival time and site specifics.

You verify, not us

LocumLink does not verify qualifications or registration status. We are stating that plainly because it is important and because getting it wrong is your risk, not ours to disclaim away.

Locums upload their own registration and qualification documents. Once a locum accepts your booking, you can open their documents from the booking to check them before they work. We do not check them against the SAPC, SANC or HPCSA registers ourselves, and we do not confirm that a registration is current or in good standing.

Before you engage anyone, check their registration directly with the relevant council. All three publish an online register. This is your responsibility as the engaging party, exactly as it would be for a permanent hire.

After the shift

Both sides review each other. Reviews are double-blind — neither party sees the other's review until both have submitted, or seven days have passed — so ratings are not written in reaction to each other.

Payment is arranged directly between you and the locum, who engages as an independent contractor. LocumLink does not process payments and takes no part of the rate.
